Overview

I am a professor of Linguistics and Distinguished Scholar Teacher at the University of Maryland. My work focuses on formal semantics and its interfaces with syntax and pragmatics, mostly in the domain of modality and attitude reports. I am particularly interested in how these systems are constrained in natural language, and how children acquire them.
